Cubs & Scouts September Activity
120th Portmarnock Scout Group will head to Zipit and Cruagh Woods for an end of summer day trip on September 18th 2021.

We will be parking at Cruagh Woods car park and walking to Zipit via Cruagh Mountin (altitude 574m). The total distance of the walk is approximately 4.5km - 5km. There will be ample time for breaks a long the way including a break for lunch. There are great views of Dublin and Dublin Bay from the top of Cruagh Mountain.
We should arrive a Zipit around 1.30pm.
After spending a couple of hours at Zipit, will will walk back to the car park at Cruagh Woods. We'll depart Zipit at 3.30pm and the walk back will be approximately 2km (with no mountain climb). We expect to be back in the cars by 4.30pm and back in Portmarnock by 5.30pm.
About Zipit
Wooden platforms wrap around trees at heights from 1-20 metres. Tackle ladders, rope bridges, swinging logs and ziplines as you work your way around the circuits. Read more about Zipit here https://www.zipit.ie/locations/tibradden-wood/
About Woods
Situated to the south of Dublin city Cruagh or Coill Na Craobhai is one of three mountain summits (Kilakee & Glendoo the others) identified as such on OS maps though it differs little in altitude from its immediate surroundings. At its highest point it is some 522m above sea level and offers probably the best views (weather permitting) over Dublin city and surroundings which lies in the flat plain below.
